Workshop 1: An Introduction to Neurodivergence and Eating: Mealtime Battles and Beyond

Workshop 1: An Introduction to Neurodivergence and Eating: Mealtime Battles and Beyond

Why Eating Can Be Hard for Neurodivergent Children

Who is it for?

Parents and carers of children who eat a limited range, avoid unfamiliar foods, depend on sameness or experience stress and conflict at mealtimes. A formal diagnosis is not required.

What will parents gain?

Understand what may sit beneath your child’s eating behaviours, from sensory differences and hunger awareness to feeding skills, anxiety and executive functioning, and learn how to approach mealtimes with greater curiosity, confidence and less pressure.

Format

These workshops run as a hybrid session. A limited number of parents can attend in person, while others are welcome to join online. We can accommodate a maximum of 20 participants in total, with up to 6 able to attend in person at this stage. Should demand for in-person attendance grow, we will consider a larger venue to accommodate more parents.

Duration

Each session runs for up to 90 minutes. The workshops begin with a presentation and slides, followed by an open question-and-answer segment. A copy of the slides will be sent to attendees after the workshop.

Fee

The fee is $60 per person per workshop. If you enrol in more than one workshop with the same presenter, or book for more than one person at the same time with the same presenter for the same workshop, you’ll receive a discount at the time of booking and each workshop will be charged at $45.

All bookings must be paid at the time of enrolment — we are unable to hold a place without payment. Cancellations made up to 10 days before the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations after this point are non-refundable under any circumstances, so please keep this in mind when booking.

Attendance & Access

When booking, please let us know whether you’ll be attending in person or online. Online participants will receive a Microsoft Teams invitation sent to their nominated email address. Once the in-person places are full, only online participation will be available.

Please note: to protect the confidentiality of other participants and the copyright of the workshop material, recording of the session — whether in person or online — is strictly not permitted.

Workshop Date: 8th October 2026, 9:00 – 10:30 am
