Jamie Treanor

Jamie is a mental health accredited social worker, who has extensive experience working with young people and their families. Jamie’s clinical experience has largely been with young people who have experienced early psychosis, and young people who have experienced complex trauma.

While Jamie’s career has primarily been in the area of early psychosis and complex trauma, she also has experience working with individuals presenting with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Jamie uses a number of evidence based approaches in her practice, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing. Jamie understands that therapy is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach, therefore she also utilises creativity in sessions, including art based interventions, somatic interventions, and play based interventions.

Jamie is a qualified facilitator of Circle of Security and Drug and Alcohol First Aid. Jamie also provides external supervision and liaison to social work students through Griffith University and Southern Cross University. Outside of her role at Family Nurture, Jamie works in a community organisation working with young people who have a history of complex trauma.
