Family Nurture clinicians conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and tailored management approaches collaboratively.


They can deliver therapies for a range of mental illnesses and psychological conditions. They do their best in clinical assessments to understand your perspective and priorities, keeping them central to their recommendations for you and your family.

The Family Nurture team prepared the following information to assist you in making your appointments and answering some of your frequent questions.


General Practitioners’ referrals

We recommend that General Practitioners submit their patients’ initial referrals electronically. For that reason, the Medical Object is the preferred method of communication. As a result, it is easier to streamline patients’ initial referrals and consultations. Alternatively, our psychiatrists, psychologists and other therapists accept fax (07 5551 0261) referrals depending on the general practitioner’s preference.


For Children, Adolescents and Family members

You need to see your GP to discuss your concerns and get a referral. Your GP or specialist can send your referrals on behalf of you and your child. They can send them to Family Nurture electronically or by fax. Our psychiatrists, psychologists, or other allied health practitioners will review your referral as soon as possible. The clinic receptionist will then contact you to offer the initial consultation session. Our administration team will not offer an appointment before our clinicians review your referral letter.

Our clinic can bring forward your appointment if another patient cancels their appointment. Please let the clinic receptionist know if you would prefer an earlier consultation session so our receptionist can contact you as soon as one becomes available.


Before your first consultation session

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your first consultation session. Therefore, you allow time to find a car park and answer a few questionnaires on your initial appointment. Free parking is available outside the clinic.

Please note that it is impossible to extend your consultation sessions if you arrive late. Consequently, our administration team will still charge the full consultation fee. Please familiarise yourself with the cancellation policy. You can avoid unwanted out-of-pocket expenses, including a lower Medicare rebate (for the reduced assessment time).

Our psychiatrists, psychologist and other therapists endeavour to provide you with the best care. The safety and well-being of you and your family are pivotal, so please do not expect a rapid intervention or therapy without a considered and agreed course of action.
